Just another Maniac Monday

Eli and I spent the evening in an unpacking frenzy, to decide whether we can have our Housewarming party this Sunday, October 20th. I'm hoping we can. I wonder if I should just send out email tonight and invite people and worry about whether we can actually pull it off later. The problem is if we don't do it this weekend I think we can't do it for like 3-4 more weeks because of Halloween and DDR tournaments and crap. So I hope all of you in Seattle can make it to a party. That means YOU, even if you think I don't mean you. Yeah, you, the ones I haven't really met yet. :P

We had tuna tataki for dinner again. Whee!

Work was okay. Fun meetings and stuff. I almost raised my hand during one to say that I know something about XSLT, but then I realized they might actually want me to do stuff, so I didn't raise my hand. I'm lame. Actually, I'm probably pretty behind on stuff anyway... I admitted later to one of the developers that I used to do quite a bit of XML/XSLT stuff. Hopefully, he won't tell anyone. :)

I got to see what a football day in Seattle is like. It gets really crowded down by the stadium and there's a lot of noise, and the buses can't pull up to the sidewalks because everyone parks all over the streets. Whee.

Sometimes I wonder why seeing since they have a haphazard QB and shoddy defense (just giving them a hard time after watching Monday Night Football).

For the current NFL, you have to say Dilfer is firmly in the middle for all QBs... the defense is embarassing. The only reason to watch is that Alexander occasionally gets those 200 yard games and demolishes opponents.

Braindead XSLT engines abound.
We were using XSLT for formatting at WhizBang for a bit, but our engine was attempting to load the entire input file into memory before processing it. Once we got up to large enough files (which happened pretty quickly) this tended to crash horribly, which is how we found out it was hapening. :( (If we had had an extra N months I would have been in favor of writing our own XSLT engine, but alas.)

football & parking

Yeah, no kidding. I wasn't paying attention because I just got back from Boston and I drove to work. Then I caught up on email and found a nice message saying "the hordes will be descending upon us" and scrambled to figure out how I could leave work early.

I'm glad I left before they towed me; I was in a lot that promises to tow people "three hours before game time" and I used up one of those hours.

I wasn't a sports fan before, but working near a stadium has strengthened my anti-sports sentiment. Why did we raise our taxes to pay for this?
