I never could get the hang of Thursdays
Okay, this is just getting too weird. I went to
otaku_girl's page because I wondered if she had pictures of her DDR cosplay group from Otakon up. I saw on her page that she had PGSS pictures. Weird. I can't help but meet up with PGSS people no matter where I go, huh? Even weirder, on her friends list she has linked a guy who was one of my PGSS students the last year I TA'ed (1998),
capernicus. Even weirder, he is into DDR. Small world. Oh well, I added them both as friends, let's see if they get freaked out or not. I also added
thatenglishguy because he used to play DDR with
aquatwo and he likes Krispy Kremes and right now I am in a major KK euphoria.
Anyway, today was work. I was BAD BAD BAD at lunch and bought CDs from Kinokuniya. One is Kawamoto Makoto's new album, "gobbledygook". Now here is what's weird... I remember getting the single of "sakura" when it came out... FOUR YEARS AGO. And it's on this album. Apparently this album came out a year ago, except I swear to god I had no idea she'd done a second album until I saw it today. Eh.
oren might be the only other fan of hers out there who might care about this at all anyway. I wouldn't usually bother buying an album by her since I know I didn't like some of her other singles, but... I was sort of thinking about how odd it was to listen to Aiko thinking "gosh, this is cool, she's like Kawamoto Makoto!" so... Oh, so the other CD I bought was "J-Euro Non-Stop Best". It appears to be all para para eurobeat music. Laugh all you want, but... I haven't listened to it yet but I bet it'll be good. Oh yeah, and
zannah: Kinokuniya finally updated the headphone-thingy with the singles and albums and all, for the first time since I moved to Seattle! Yay.
After that I figured out how to save 2 bucks twice a week - just get pad thai, for $3, than pad thai and "something else" for $5. What a scam.
I stayed at work until like 6:45. I was so tired today. I hate being tired. I should go to sleep early tonight or something. Anyway. After work, on a whim, I decided to go check out
aquatwo's Thursday night pool gathering. Hmm. It was funny because I was having second guesses about it the whole way there, and when the bus turned onto Blanchard and kept going and didn't appear to have a stop, I almost figured I'd just go home and be like "I accidentally took the wrong bus, it didn't stop near the pool hall" but then beep! it stopped at 6th and Blanchard, so I walked all the way down to 1st. Went in. Looked around. Felt silly because honestly, I wasn't going to know anyone there except Steve, and I'd only met him once before, and I don't even know him that well, and... etc etc. Fortunately, I found him. He had a big crowd of pool players! I was pretty scared, but to my credit, I went in instead of running away. I stayed about an hour I guess. I played a game or two of pool (and sucked as per usual), and talked to Steve and some of his friends. I think I might have been better off if I'd actually been dressed appropriately for a pool hall instead of wearing a t-shirt, jeans, chucks, and had my hair down and flat. Eh. Maybe I'll go back some week.. and remember to not dress like a nerd next time. Everyone was very nice to me. They are a good group, even the two people who utterly kicked everyone's ass at pool.
I caught a bus home. Eli made quiche for dinner but it was weird stuff, so I only had a bite. I ate another Krispy Krack donut. God, they're good. Now I am goofing off online, listening to my new CDs, and I think I will go to bed soon so I can read for an hour or two and then sleep and not feel awful for staying up so late. I'm halfway through Fire Sea. It is sort of refreshing to be totally absorbed in books again, but it is bad because of my reading habits (which involve things like "oh god, only 100 pages left, so what if it's 2am, I can finish it in an hour or two!" (sound familiar, Carl?))
Bleh. There's a PPP party at Narrows tomorrow, but it's from like 5-8pm, and Narrows is in freaking Tacoma, and there's no way in hell I could get home from work and then drive down there by 8pm. I might head to IZ again or elsewhere... or I might just stay home and finally put together my entertainment center so I can play DDR at home (which will make me sad but happy but sad). Or I could do the Seattle Center. It will be open when I'm out of work for once... Hmmm... blah, I dunno. I do have to figure out where Narrows is by the tournament on Oct 26, but I don't think I need to do it tomorrow.
What I really need to do is lose 30 pounds and get a haircut. But, unless I starve myself again like I did senior year of high school, I doubt the first part will happen.

i remember just not talking much and Laura and Adrian talking the whole time. wait, wasn't Udo along for that too? blah....

I don't think Udo was there. he may have been at the baseball game we went to back in the day...what was that sign? If you put us on TV, the phillies will win?
Anyway, it was just fun to look back and be amused at what a silly perpetually frightened kid i used to be.
