more austin adventures

We went to Chuy's for lunch today. I love Chuy's. It is tasty tasty Tex-Mex food. Very yummy. Afterwards, people went to play ultimate frisbee. Half of us were still weighted down by Chuy's, so we didn't go for an hour or so. Then we showed up. I tried to play ultimate, but my lack of being able to throw or catch a frisbee sort of put a dent in my enjoyment of the sport. That's ok, though. People were nice about my lack of skill and finally put me on the side with more people so I could just run around and not really do much and not feel too bad about it.

After frisbee we went to Amy's Ice Cream for ice cream. I had strawberry lime pie ice cream. It was quite good. We went and sat around on the granite cows and I took a metric buttload of pictures.

After that we came back here and played video games and sat around. Jason and Julie called me though and asked if I wanted to go to dinner, and since we had no plans, that sounded fine to me! So we went to dinner at a Benihana's. I had never actually been to a Japanese steakhouse before, since I usually go for "authentic Japanese" food at most places and all. This was wacky since it had tables at griddles and all, but nothing like typical Japanese griddle fare except yakisoba (which I got. I wanted okonomiyaki though. I asked about it, but they didn't know what it was). The chef was Spanish of some sort, and he did all the tricks with the knives and spatulas and whatever, and served us waaaaay too much food, but... it was weird, the other people at our table were Americans but speaking Spanish to the chef. I was thinking how strange it was to be in a Japanese restaurant, to hear people speaking another language, and for that language to be Spanish. Oh well. I also ordered a sushi roll and it was fucking huge. It was the size of S2's futomaki rolls, except it was just a variation on california rolls. It was good but between that, the yakisoba, and the other stuff they served off the griddle, I ate way too much food. I got to hang out with Jason and Julie though, which was good, and talk for a while. Julie is someone I've known like forever, she pledged APhiO with me and was my sophomore year fall semester roomate, and Jason is also someone I've known like forever, from CS and KGB and all. So they are cool, we had a lot of gossip to catch up on since I didn't get to talk to them enough at Laurel and Jason's wedding last weekend. Whee. They came back here to Sheena's after dinner, and when we walked in people were heating up frozen pizzas and playing DDR. Brad wanted to unlock Maniac mode for Disney's Mix, the American version, so he and carl were doing all the Trick songs. I jumped in and helped, and we succeeded. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Maniac is 10 feet! Whee. I got Jason to play DDR, he'd never seen it before - we did a few one-foot songs and I talked him through it. It was fun. Then we all went to TGIFriday's for dessert. I had a mudslide and I've been a little tipsy since. It's also fun to fit 9 people in a booth at TGIF.

Coming home, we sat around a bit and then played Settlers, me and Dave and Carl and Zach. Carl won. And now I am sitting around here.
