yay baseball!
I got up at 8:30am so we could go on a tour of rental homes. We found one we really liked and a lot we felt kinda eh about. Hopefully we can get the one we liked. It's really nice, a little expensive, but right by greenlake, and 99, and it has a lot of nice features. Lots of the houses we saw were either too expensive for what you get, or basically had lots of basement rooms that were not acceptable as rooms, or they were really college-housey... I kind of don't want to live in another Shady House, if you know what I mean.
Megan and Josh went to a concert and couldn't use their tickets for today's Mariners game, so they were kind enough to give them to us. They have EXCELLENT seats, about 30 rows back from the field. We got to the game about half an inning late because I got lost driving there... basically, we sat down to see Ichiro strike out as the first thing in the game. From then on it got really exciting. There was this point where it was like 8-2 with Cleveland winning, but, unlike in Pittsburgh, the 42000 or so fans in the stadium (unlike Pittsburgh, it was PACKED!) didn't leave. And then, the next half of the inning, the Mariners batted a rally to tie the score to 8-8, getting 6 runs! It was way exciting. I cheered a lot during the game, and it was a lot of fun, and they are really good to watch. Ichiro is a great ballplayer, both for batting and fielding (he was like 4 for 6 batting, and took an amazing double somersault catching a ball one time), and I got to see Hasegawa and Sasaki pitch, too! There was a group of Japanese fans nearby and they had signs in Japanese saying "Hasegawa ganbatte!" and "Sasaki ganbatte!" and they had an Ichiro one too but I couldn't see what it said. I had a lot of fun. Unfortunately we had to leave around 5:20 (the game started at 1:35), in the top of the 9th inning, when it was still tied 8-8. We left to go look at another house, this one near Megan and Josh's house (where we are staying). They told us the Mariners lost 10-8. :( I hope to go back for some more games this season... it was a lot of fun.
After that we went looking for dinner. We drove to Queen Anne and tried to go to a sushi place we'd read about in the city paper, but it was closed, so we got indian food. It was more expensive for less food than in Pittsburgh, but eh, it wasn't too bad. Then we walked to the Cow's Meow, a homemade ice cream place in QA. It was good. Eli had cardamom ice cream and I had bubblegum ice cream. It's no Dave and Andy's, but it'll do.
Bleh, I have to wake up at like 6:45am tomorrow for work, so I can catch a bus and get there early for orientation. I guess I better go to sleep instead of playing more FFX. Also, today is Eli's birthday, so you should all wish him a birthday or something.
