Falling water and rocking the boat
Today we went to Fallingwater because Mike is a member of the Pennsylvania Conservancy or whatever and gets some free admissions, so Carl and me and Mike and Eli went. Yay. It was pretty cool - I do recommend people go see it at some point, but I also admit that I don't feel like it was a life-changing experience or anything. I learned some history of the place and the area and some stuff about architecture, and the house is pretty interesting... though, my biggest question is how the hell people could live there and deal with 24 hour waterfall in the background. Also, despite that their site says no photography on site - bring a camera, you can take pictures outside and that is pretty neat as is. I wish I had.
After that we came back, which was an adventure since exit 9 of the turnpike is closed going west this week. Whee! I was sewing in the car and I fell asleep while everyone figured out how to get home (Mike was driving). We stopped off at respective homes to get changed into nicer clothes, and then I drove everyone to Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner, where I had the yummy SW manicotti I've been craving for a while, and we all tried to help Carl finish a tiramisu. Then we drove downtown and got to the Benedum very early for Guys and Dolls.
It was a really good show. I'd only seen it once before and that was like, in high school, by some random high school in Philly, I don't even remember which one, and it wasn't even a good performance. The main difference between the way I remembered it and this show was that the Sky Masterson they had here was absolutely fantastic. It's funny, I mean, that just totally made the show so perfect. Adelaide was also fantastic. Sarah was pretty darn good and Nathan was the least darn good of the four leads but was still decent. It's just a fun show, with good music, and silly lines. The ensemble was fun too, and the sets were awesome.
It took us like an hour to get home. 30 minutes of this was being stuck in the fucking parking lot. I hate parking lots. People are idiots. Idiots like sitting in parking lots. I hate idiots.
