Buildin' that train, high on aspartame...

Today I rounded up players ([profile] nickjong and [profile] rmitz) for train games and went to [personal profile] cellio's house. I love Monica's house. It is so totally cool. Eli and I need to find a place like it someday. Anyway, since Roman was going to be late I suggested a "quick" game of Nippon Rails. Instead, Roman got there just as we were starting it and it took about 2.5 hours. Oops. So no Iron Dragon for me. I should have just been patient and waited and played ID, but... so... still need my ID fix, but something tells me I will have no trouble getting Josh to play it when I'm out in Seattle... Anyway, after Nippon Rails, which Roman won, we played some normal Settlers of Catan, which I was the underdog for the whole game and won in a totally sneaky manner; I conned Nick into trading me a clay, which I used to steal Longest Road after building one road normally and two roads with Road Building, and I had two victory points in dev cards.

After games, I was going swing dancing, but since Eli was going to a concert thingy I didn't have a car. Nick was nice enough to come back here with me and wait for me to change into dancing clothes (I tried on like three dresses and decided they all looked stupid and just wore the same outfit I wear a lot of the time there). Then we went to the Beeler house, where we found Christina and Charlie.

Christina and Charlie and Nick and I went to dancing. (We dragged Nick after giving him impromptu lessons in the Beeler living room. [profile] fleaplus might or might not have incriminating evidence of the event.) I saw a lot of people there, like Eric Stein and Pat Riley and their friend Laura, and [profile] dlatimer showed up! And others... I danced with Matt McHenry, who I was a 15-127 TA for like 6 years ago. I also danced with some guy that Nick claims runs the speech lab (Dr. Rudnicky?). I danced with Eric a lot since we had this ongoing conversation. "So wait, you're moving out there when? And getting married when? And..." Also, Eric is just fun to dance with. I also danced with Nick a lot, who seemed to not be having a good time, which is dumb because I think he was catching on pretty well for a beginner. I guess I felt like I should have danced with him more, but I wanted him to also dance with other people. I didn't dance with Tal nearly as much this time as last time. Oh, so see, there was this band playing, but unlike the rumours I heard, this band was REALLY slow and played a lot of foxtrot music (whereas Dave had told me the last time there was a live band there, they only played insanely fast stuff). So, eh. I did dance a cha-cha with Pat though, and then sat around annoyed during a waltz. Tom Gilbert was there too, but he pretended not to know me. This is normal, as he was one of the ballroom clique people who have always pretended not to know me. Whee. Overall I did have a fun night, but, someone stepped on my foot early and so I was a little bit limping by the end of the dancing. We left around 11:15 because, well, none of us had had dinner.

So Charlie and Christina and Nick and I went to India Garden, where I had never been before. Then I ate too much food and had both a hurty stomach and hurty feet. It was funny though since Charlie told me about this idea he had for bridge t-shirts. Now I am trying to come up with a good "bridge nickname" for myself. For example, Nick is "Professor Penalty Pass" or something. So I could be like "Ms. Ace Of Hearts" or "Double Trouble" or "Down One Is Good Bridge" or something. Hmm.

I don't think Rudnicky runs the speech group, but he's certainly one of the major players.

And for the record, I did have a good time when I was dancing. :) And I don't think you should feel obligated to dance with me more, necessarily.
