Weekend... PAX and stuff

Friday was a rare day where I got a few hours of time to myself, so I took the morning and went shopping! I went to Bell Square, and managed to get 2 new pairs of jeans (since I have gained 20 pounds since coming back from Japan, which is sadly not a joke, I have gone up a jeans size, though I'm hoping to do something about that when I go back to Japan). I also got a shirt or two, and shopped around the mall for a few other things, like a replacement for the iPhone cover I broke... though finding an iPod cover seems awfully hard. Does nobody bother with these things anymore?

Had Pagliacci's for lunch just to be indulgent, I guess.

Spent the afternoon doing laundry and all the usual chores I do when back in Seattle.

In the evening we had PH meeting, and afterwards we ended up at the Celtic Bayou for dinner with Andy and Ben.

Then we came home and watched the first 4 episodes of Glee Season 2.

Saturday we woke up late-ish and went to PAX. That is, we drove in, via I-90 because 520 was out. It was a great drive until the final 2 miles, when we got totally stuck, and so the trip to the convention center took a total of an hour and a half, and we arrived around 3pm.

Honestly, I had no real plan for doing stuff at PAX... so, Mike and I met Carl, and then wandered some, and then ran into the Bothell crew, and then I also managed to tell Cody (the magic intern in our group from Tagged) where we were, so he caught up with us too. Yay Cody! Carl showed me the Word Fighter game, which was like Battle Boggle, and Cody had us play a cops-and-robbers game by a company called Monaco. After that it was just a lot of wandering and taking photos and stuff. All the interesting games had really long lines... we ended up in the big exhibit hall, Mike wanted to see the Kinect stuff. Cody left to go to a panel and instead I ran into Jeff and Chris and talked to them for a while.

I dunno, it really is a blur. We just wandered around and looked at stuff. There was a lot of loud shouting near the SJG booth and I noticed that Steve Jackson himself was actually there (I met him several years ago). We peeked in on the tabletop games but didn't recognize anyone... though we ran into Jett in the hall outside.

Some interesting vendors were the people selling complicated game tables, and the dice people (one dude had a shirt in Japanese, and I did too, so I read his shirt and was like "...can you read mine?" "Well, no.")

We went to meet up with Django and Lu and get dinner. (I ran into Julie on the way to find them, which was kinda crazy, since she recognized Mike from my photos of us and all.) Dinner ended up being at Gordon Biersch in Pacific Place... the funny part is, we went in and then saw Zach and Jessica at a table with their friends. Apparently Django had texted them to see if they wanted to come to dinner... probably just as well as the restaurant shortly filled up with PAX nerds afterwards. But dinner was good. I had their steak frites and it was tasty.

We kinda briefly went back to PAX after that, but realized we really had nothing in particular to do, so we headed home. I would have liked to see more friends, but it's just so super-hectic, and waiting in line for the concert just didn't seem worth it.

So we went home and saw 4 more episodes of Glee.

Um, Sunday was kinda low-key. We had lunch at Ooba's, and went up northwards... went to Funtasia for the batting cages. We rented one for half an hour and took turns, slowpitch softball batting, and I was working on switch-hitting just on a whim... it was funny because I could actually hit right-handed. (I'm left-handed.) Then we went to Django's house and played a few games of Seven Wonders with Leaders. I won the first game, Dave won the second game (it was us and Konstantin and Dave). The game I won, I just kinda managed to get points in EVERYTHING... having Vitruvius both games really helped, he's the tech tree leader, and I'm big on tech trees. I was Rhodes, so my first thing I played was Caesar for 2 extra military strength, and the 18 military points at the end really helped. (As opposed to game 2, I had Tomyris, so didn't lose any military points but didn't gain 'em either.)

We hung out a bit, then came home via Fred Meyer, where we got salads. We played catch some out in the street, so my arm hurts now... then we ate salads and watched 4 more episodes of Glee. Having inhaled Season 1 a few weeks ago, this now puts us at episode 12 of Season 2, the "Silly Love Songs" one. I guess I have to wait until next week to continue with the show. My opinion, actually, on Season 2, is that the best part of it is really them having promoted Brittany and Mike Chang to regulars, as Brittany's one-liners are hilarious and I think Tina and Mike are really adorable.

I guess that was it for weekendiness.

Yay Glee! I'm glad you are enjoying the show. I really can't wait for season 3 and how they will work in the winners from The Glee Project.
