well, the draft happened

Kagami's going to be a Yokohama Baystar. Which is good for him, he's FROM Kanagawa Prefecture and grew up close to Yokohama, went to high school near Yokohama, and his university is also near Yokohama. I'm going to get down there to buy a Baystars jersey ASAP to add his name and number to... well, once he has a number :)

Ohishi's going to be a Seibu Lion! And what's even funnier is, in the first round, 6 teams picked Ohishi and 4 picked Saitoh. Given that I was a somewhat obsessive Ohishi fan for a year or two before I became an even more obsessive Kagami fan, I feel somewhat justified in my existence. Plus it's funny, but the first time I saw Ohishi play was exactly three years ago to the day when me and Pau went to Soukeisen and joked about this "oishii" kid with this freshman flaming fastball.

And... uhh... Yuki Saitoh is going to be a Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters player.

Holy shit.

I don't really know how to feel about it, because... well, to be honest, if Saitoh had none of his hype, I would probably be a pretty big fan of his. He's a decent pitcher and from all accounts he's a decent kid too, I always read interviews with him and think he gives interesting and insightful answers.

But unfortunately, the hype makes him somewhat unattractive to me, just like when we got Sho Nakata. The difference is that this time Saitoh may actually bring a ton of fans with him... most of whom are 40-year-old housewives :| I won't be here next year really anyway, but I wonder how insane things will get at Kamagaya once he moves in there. Hopefully not too bad. But I'm really truly just not sure what to think about it all -- I know that I'm supposed to be happy, but I have a feeling that His Handkerchiefness is going to be a double-edged sword.

Shasha and Soh-chan didn't get drafted, not a surprise... neither did Nishijima. But Fumiya Araki did, by Hanshin. Should be interesting to see what happens to him.

I'm also kinda proud that a bunch of players I called out as surefire picks were, infact, surefire picks.
