I live at Jingu
It was cold and rainy this morning so I slept in, instead of going to both games at Jingu. I got there at 1pm and that was for the 8th inning of the Keio-Rikkio game, which Keio won, and it went until 1:30 or so, so the Waseda-Meiji game started at 2pm, and went until almost 5pm. Which wouldn't be a problem except that there was a Swallows-Giants game at 6pm.
I sat in the outfield because it's free if you're female, and I didn't feel like dealing with the Saitoh crowds. So I could walk around Jingu between the first two games; got my ticket to the evening pro game, and said hi to the Keio ouendan leader as I was walking by, but didn't see any of my friends or any players I knew, though Wakiya of the Giants apparently was nearby, judging by the Giants fans lined up by the players' parking lot. Game 2 was horribly hot because the sun was in my face, and I used an umbrella to keep it out most of the game. I think the infield was probably still like 21-22 degrees but it was up like 27-28 in the outfield, no joke.
After Game 2 I went outside... for all of like 15 minutes :) I looked out front of Jingu for Ogura and people but couldn't find anyone. Meiji and Waseda both had gated-off buses, so it wasn't possible to talk to players at all anyway. BUT I did run into Kobayashi on her way out and she gave me this HUGE stack of photos she printed out of Kagami and Itoh from the World University Baseball Championships and they are AWESOME. Seriously, like 70 photos, that must have cost her a bunch to print. I'm not sure what I can do in return. I think her camera is better than mine.
So once the masses had filtered into the stadium, I went in too. It was funny having only been outside for like 15 minutes, but the outfield went from empty to completely full of Swallows fans. They let people in around 5:10pm, so the game was pushed to start at 6:10pm. It was still packed, and the lines for food were retarded, so I ended up getting KFC because it had a relatively short line. Shrug.
Sat with the usual suspects, meaning Kozo and the rest of the people at the top of section D. There were two guys in our mini-group too, Akinori and Charles, who stood with us in the back row. And the tall guy whose name I still don't know but who I used to talk to a lot last year was there, I think this is the first time I'd seen him this year (or maybe, since like, April). Suzuki-kun wasn't there. I dunno, it was crowded and the fucking Giants won and that kinda sucked, but I still had a good time yelling a lot. And talking to people... there was a kind of funny discussion for a while about what expressions in a language are "necessary". Like, "This is a pen" is not necessary, but "Where the hell is the station" is, or "Fuck you Alex Ramirez" apparently is quite necessary too. It's a weird group of people. But the game went LONG, it ended around 10:15pm.
So, I'm zonked.
And going to hockey tomorrow, so I think I'll sleep now.
Oh yeah, so Aoki got his 199th hit of the season in the game, he got two hits. In his last plate appearance, he got hit by a pitch... that kind of sucked. As a result I'm seriously thinking of trying to go back to Jingu tomorrow night too.
