No, really. Fuck it. I wish I could think of a single damn reason to continue spending any time on Marinerds at all. I should be saving all of this stuff for the book. And "this stuff" is largely the personal interactions with fans that I've been tracking here.

You could/should keep writing on Marinerds to keep people interesting interested, as a pre-publication promotional tool? (Fair enough if you don't consider that a good enough reason, but I thought I'd throw it out there.)

I don't know, man, I think Marinerds is pretty cool as a blog, but if you have something more rewarding to focus that energy and material and thought on, it's hard to justify also blogging.

Nah, the real thing is... I don't have time to really blog the way I want to and also have time to actually GO to all the games and places I want to go to.

And I feel like most people out there don't really care about the obscure baseball crap I'm most interested in these days, like the fan experience all over Japan, or weird random college baseball players or whatever. I have so many stories and videos and things I just haven't bothered putting up because I start working on cropping photos or whatever and think "you know... I really would be better off going to sleep than working on this. Is there any reason whatsoever to bother?"

Basically, as far as I can tell, the people who read in English about Japanese baseball these days mostly only either want to read about players who might come to the MLB, or would rather read a site that is just translating Japanese news sites, rather than stories of crazy adventures. So what's the point of me trying to put out "public" versions of this stuff, when I can just braindump here the weird shit like "I can't believe I met this guy in rural Akita who spent 5 years in California and now goes to Keio! And then 4 days later met the Keio ouendan leader in front of a castle in Matsuyama!" And not worry about being incoherent, because this is a personal blog, dammit.

Yeah, kinda. But at the same time, I'm not sure I'm really anywhere even near that point, nor will I be while I'm still in Japan, I don't think. Funny how it seems that in order to write a book about Japan, you need to get the hell OUT of Japan.

For what it's worth, as someone with only a casual interest in baseball and Japanese ball doubly so, I still very much enjoy reading about your travels and your games and your enthusiasm and all the little details.
