Guess what prefecture I am in now
I'm in Niigata! Hooray.
But guess what I forgot? I forgot to bring a 2-prong-to-3-prong adapter for my laptop power cord, since Japan doesn't believe in 3rd prongs, so I'm guessing I won't be online much tonight. Fortunately there seem to be some electronics stores right here by the station, so I will stop in tomorrow and get an adapter. Sigh.
Also, the forecast 2-3 days ago said sunny Saturday, but NOW the forecast says it will rain starting around 6pm tomorrow. Sigh. Fortunately the baseball game I want to see is at 1pm, so I hope I can see the game before the rain. Though it might mean I'll just hang out in the hotel tomorrow night instead of around town. And I still haven't figured out what to do Sunday -- had pondered a side trip to Kanazawa or Toyama for another baseball game but maybe not.
The Hard-Off Eco Stadium -- which is the entire reason I am here in the first place -- is like 2 miles from the station. And there are no train stations near it. And it looks like on weekends the buses there only run once per hour. What a pain in the ass, being in these cities that are meant for people with cars. I may just take a taxi and write it off to "shit happens". The stadium website says they open at 11am for the 1pm game, I really just want to get there, get in, and explore for a while, and then hopefully watch some interesting indie league baseball -- I'm going to see the Gunma Diamond Pegasus, which is the top team in the league right now, against the hometown Niigata Albirex.
Whatever, this is one of my weirdest and most haphazard baseball trips ever anyway. I meant to get to town earlier, but when I got home to Akabane today at 5:30, all the shinkansen were sold out until almost 9pm, so I got my ticket then, for the 8:50pm train which put me in Niigata at almost 11pm.
