I'm in Seattle!

Well, more like, I am in Sammammish :)

Also, if you had my phone number last time I was in town, I still have the same phone number! Posted here if you're on my friends list.

But yeah, I flew across the Pacific Ocean today. Whoosh! I was really scared that I wouldn't have a seat because I had no seat assignment, so I went to Narita fairly early... I had a flight at 4:30pm and left my house at 11:30am or so. Unfortunately, carrying 70 pounds of stuff with me slowed me down quite a bit and I didn't make the 12:05 Skyliner so ended up on the 12:27 normal train, getting in around 1:40 or so. I got stuck with my cart on the escalator up to the checkin area, which was embarrassing as there was this huge group of high school kids there too. They helped push me through, heh.

Checkin people told me "OMG WE ARE OVERBOOKED" but I said "I DON'T CARE I WILL NOT MOVE FLIGHTS". So, after checking in and doing security and immigration, I got to the gate and got my boarding pass with a seat, and I got in row 17 -- the front of Economy Plus! The good news is I had a ton of leg room. The bad news is no seat in front of me, so I had to stow all of my stuff up above.

I watched 3 movies on the plane: "It's Complicated", which was really bad and I almost turned it off, "Up In The Air", the movie with George Clooney as a guy who goes all over the place firing people and then stuff happens -- it was great, a really well-done movie, I greatly enjoyed it except that the sound kept cutting out. Then the third movie I was going to either watch Aladdin or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and opted for Aladdin. Which was nice to see again, it had been years, yet I apparently still have most of it memorized. Hmm.

And then the flight was mostly over. I slept for like 30 minutes.

Then I got to Seattle, and aside from a slight snafu where I got in line 6 for customs (but only lines 1-5 were really open -- it was a little weird, they all had 2 people handling them but we only had 1) and it took a while, nothing was a problem, and I got through and got my bags and stuff and got out and then Mike was there to meet me and hooray! He brought me back here to his house, and basically I ended up napping for a while in the afternoon when he went to work. (It makes sense since 12pm-5pm here is like 4am-9am in Japan.)

In the evening we went to an Ethiopian restaurant downtown to celebrate [profile] zml's birthday, with a whole bunch of people. It was interesting, although a little spicier than expected. It was still good to see people and to talk to them and all.

Anyway, I just wanted to update to say that I'm alive and well and in Seattle. Hooray!
