More baseball adventures

Today Mike and I had another baseball-adventuring day of sorts.

Well, this one actually started off with meeting up with my friend Ken around 1pm in Akihabara, to wander and get lunch. Ken is another guy I know off the japanesebaseball.com forums, who blogs about hockey but likes baseball way more. We found him by the gate (we were 10 mins late, oops) and then wandered around some of the electronics alleyways before I finally just did my usual most-of-Akihabara-sucks-lets-go-to-Yodobashi deal and dragged them there. First we had lunch on the 8th floor -- found a katsu place since I figured that'd be Japanese food for Ken but edible within Mike's food constraints (no seafood, etc). It worked out well, we had a lot of katsu and it was also really delicious, gotta remember that place in the future.

We worked our way down the floors of Yodobashi, mostly spending time on the 6th floor where all the puzzles and games and whatnot are. I got a train station puzzle and Mike got some Magic cards, and so on.

Eventually we went to the Tokyo Dome, getting there around 4:30pm or so. I was able to get Ken another discount ticket from my fan club membership, which was good. We went in and found Hiromi and Risa at the seats in front, and they'd saved four seats for us in the 2nd row at my request (easier for people to pick up ouenka if they're watching people in front). When Ojisan showed up we all went out to go do pinbadges and to find batteries for Ken's camera. We were successful on both fronts, and we also got ice cream! And then Sakamoto gave me 3 more badges when I came back into the stands.

Oh, an amusing thing. Before the game I'd told Mike, "I'm going to get a Ryota Imanari pin today one way or the other. Either it'll come out of the pinbadge machine, OR somebody is going to come up to me and say 'Deanna! I got a Ryota badge and I don't want it, here you are!'" Sure enough, shortly after we arrived at the stadium, Kaori from Osaka called out to me and said pretty much EXACTLY that and gave me her Imanari pin, and I was so happy about it that I opened it up and put it on my uniform right then and there (I have all 5 years of his pins now).

Vincent showed up pretty much right as the game was starting, but since he's fluent in Japanese I just handed him an ouenka sheet and he picked it up right away. He sat with Ken and they chatted for most of the game since we all spend too much time in the Koshien chatroom together anyway. (It turned out V was late because he was watching Koshien, too.) The game itself was great, we were up 1-0 for most of it, and then Brian Wolfe blew the save in the 9th and the Fighters lost 3-2 and that sucked. At least I picked up a brand-new Tokyo Dome chance theme they made up today but which we missed the practice for... but yeah, it sucks how the team has gotten off to a 1-6-1 start. Boy, do we suck.

At least I carried on my tradition of putting a towel over my head for Tateyama pitching and he continues to kick ass whenever I do that. Some of my other friends even yelled down "Deanna-san! Tateyama deta!" when he came out and I had the towel out but not on my head yet. Vincent's like "Dude, everyone knows you do this?"

After the game the four of us went to the Denny's at the Tokyo Dome and ate food and sat around talking for a while. I felt a little bad for Mike as the other three of us babbled a lot about the Koshien chatrooms and the tournament and all -- Teikyo lost today to Konan but I'm kinda okay with it because it means Shimabukuro-kun is in the semifinals, among other things. It was a good time and I'm glad we could do that, even if it meant getting home pretty late. Mike got to see what it's like on a truly crowded train as we were crushed onto the Saikyo line from Ikebukuro to Akabane, too, heh.

I have a sore throat. I hope it's just from yelling for two days and not from like, a cold or anything.
